We are dedicated to cultivating a student-centered, interdisciplinary learning environment that highlights real-world connections. Our approach empowers students to take an active role in their education, collaborate across disciplines, and apply their knowledge to tackle meaningful challenges. By integrating relevant, real-world contexts into our curriculum, we ensure that learning transcends the classroom, equipping students with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
At the elementary level we seek to create a true community of learning in which students are respected and taught as individuals, teachers are empowered to lead and inspire, and parents are included as essential participants in their child’s education. In the classroom, collaborative problem solving, and respectful conflict resolution set the tone for a lifetime of successful peer interaction.
The elementary school experience is designed to not only support learning, but purposeful living as well. The seven core virtues of honesty, respect, responsibility, compassion, self-discipline, perseverance and giving are instilled in students both in the classroom and in real-world service opportunities. We believe these core virtues passed on through the Holy Spirit apply not only to our relationships with others, but also in our stewardship of our natural environment.
The rigorous curriculum has at its minimum standard Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. However, this curriculum is organized to highlight connections across various fields of study, with an emphasis on universal and defining human experiences. In this way, students not only become literate in a variety of disciplines but are also well-equipped to apply their knowledge to the multi-faceted world outside the classroom.
Our classrooms are safe, happy, engaging environments filled with resources that allow students to learn in ways to which they naturally respond. We maintain low student/teacher ratio, student grouping arrangements are flexible, play and exercise are built into the daily schedule. Opportunities for learning extend onward to include the greater community and natural world that surround us.
St. Helena's Episcopal Church welcomes all school families to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 7:45, 9:00 or 11:00. We have a lot of fun formation opportunities for both kids and adults throughout the year, and we would love to welcome you and your children further into the St. Helena's family.
